HKU is not a destination, but rather a continuous journey!

“Four years ago, I left everything behind from a small town in Vietnam to come to Hong Kong with only one suitcase and a dream, without any expectations. It was my first time ever to be out of my home country on my own, and that far away from my comfort zone. Now I can finally say I made it - my very first step into the world.” Said Hanie Luong, from HKU Class of 2022 (Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance, a scholarship recipient from Vietnam).

Hanie has participated in various exchange programmes and internships during her time at HKU, including the "Entrepreneurship in China" programme with Zhejiang University, and secured a position as a Graduate Analyst at Morgan Stanley upon graduation. Despite the challenges that may arise from the rigorous coursework, embracing diverse learning opportunities and exchanging ideas with peers and professors enables her to gradually discover the pattern for problem-solving, thereby preparing her for future career endeavours and a continued wonderful adventure in Hong Kong.

Hanie is immensely grateful for all the support she has received along the way and shares her advice to all incoming HKUers, "HKU is not a destination, but rather a continuous journey. Consider it as the beginning of a journey, even if you feel overwhelmed by other talented students. It is not about how good you are, but how brilliant you will become. Work hard and give it your fullest extent, while enjoying the experience!"
