Practical learning
Students are provided with opportunities to complete a professional internship, overseas field trip, and/or exchange in their third year of study.

Students will divide their time between academic lectures and surveying studios. The studios provide a space for students to experience the programme’s interdisciplinary and student-centred approach in action and test the theories through real-life case studies and practical project work. Two PDF files for this part if possible:

Under normal circumstances, the majority of our students would participate in a semester-long exchange programme in their third year of study, visiting universities all around the world and exchanging knowledge and practices. Since credits taken in the exchange programme can be transferred, students who participate in overseas exchange can graduate as scheduled. This provides experiential learning platforms for students to enhance their professional, academic and personal development.
Our programme also allows students in their third year to take a credit bearing course, Professional Practice, which requires students to gain professional experience during their internship in companies within the land development sector.

BSc(Surveying) is recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS). The HKIS accreditation covers all SIX divisions, namely Land Surveying (LS), General Practice (GP), Quantity Surveying (QS), Building Surveying (BS), Planning and Development (PD), and Property and Facility Management (PFM). After graduation, students will have the absolute freedom to join any of the above-mentioned surveying streams.
Upon fulfilling the approved practical experience and passing the professional assessment by HKIS, RICS, CIOB, or PAQS, students will gain full professional status, enabling them to develop their careers in Hong Kong and internationally.

The programme empowers students to launch their careers across a wide range of dynamic sectors, including leading developers, consultancy firms, property investment and management companies, financial institutions, and building contractors. Graduates are also well-equipped to manage real estate portfolios for retail chains, hotel groups, and corporations beyond the traditional surveying industry boundaries.
In the public sector, our graduates are highly sought after for roles in departments such as lands, buildings, rating and valuation, architectural services, housing, and urban renewal. They are well-prepared for professional careers as building, general practice, quantity, planning and development, or property and facilities management surveyors.
According to the latest statistics, approximately 90% of students received two or more job offers, and around 70% secured at least three. The employment split between the public and private sectors is approximately 70:30 this year, reflecting strong demand across the board.
