Programme Introduction
AI × Humanities × Business: Reimagining University Education
In an era where artificial intelligence and global transformation are deeply intertwined, the traditional model of knowledge transmission in higher education faces significant challenges. In particular, since AI can instantly access and process vast amounts of information, merely teaching students to master specialised knowledge is no longer the core mission of universities.
In light of this challenge, the Bachelor of Global Leadership, Innovation, and Society (BGLIS) is introduced as the new flagship programme at HKU Business School, designed to unlock boundless possibilities for personalised growth for the world's most promising young talents.
Year 1: Build the foundation of critical thinking through courses in mathematics, programming, economics and humanities.
Year 2: Immerse in diverse cultures and academic environments by studying at top universities across Chinese Mainland, the U.S., and Europe, honing future-ready business leadership through overseas courses and joint projects.
Year 3: Engage in transdisciplinary courses co-designed by leading professors across faculties, tackling core themes like AI, business innovation, and the societal impacts of technology, blending technical expertise with ethical and strategic considerations.
Year 4: Step into real-world transformation through a capstone project, applying knowledge in tech companies, nonprofits, or startups to turn ideas into impact.
At BGLIS, through diligent study and collaborative growth, you will gradually acquire the qualities and strength needed to lead in the AI era. You will harness advanced technologies while understanding complex societies; possess a global perspective while embracing humanistic care; and not only lead technological transformation and innovation, but also propose solutions to major social issues. BGLIS students have the option to complete both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree within five years.
BGLIS does more than cultivate professional skills—it aspires for students to become agents of change in an era where technology and humanity coexist. Whether you choose to start your own venture or join a leading global enterprise, BGLIS graduates, with outstanding transdisciplinary abilities and a global vision, will be pioneers in redefining the value of human knowledge.
